Soloists’ Recital

09 februari 2015

On Sunday over 40 musicians came together to perform in our termly Soloists’ Recitals. Head of Primary Music, Charlie Rakowski, tells us how it went.

As always, the talent demonstrated was exceptional as was the behaviour of all the performers, who not only knew how to present themselves on stage but also sat and listened extremely sensibly and respectfully during the other performances.

A highlight during these recitals was the parental involvement in several of the performances. It was a delight to see whole families performing together who had obviously been practising hard at home! The range of music performed took us from Lady Gaga to Bach with some jazz and musical theatre in between. It was also a pleasure to see how many students came to support their friends and siblings on stage.

For some of our students it was the first time they had performed in front of such a big audience, something that can be quite daunting. However, the audience were so appreciative and supportive of all the performers that the atmosphere was warm and welcoming even on such a cold day!

Many thanks to all the music teachers and parents who have supported the students in their preparation for the recitals. We hope to see you all again on 5 May for our final Soloists’ Recitals of this academic year.
