Day in and day out, all of the individual successes of our students are a great source of pride and motivation to the staff. It is these small but very important individual and group achievements that are the building blocks of success and confidence. They are taking place every day across the various learning environments across the campus. Collectively, these small steps forward in terms of students’ personal bests build into larger and higher profile achievements.
Just over the course of the last week we have seen an incredible range of examples of the way in which our students, when challenged, produce outstanding performances in a variety of disciplines. These performances have only been possible because of the commitment and hard work of the students and the support of staff and families over an extended period of preparation time. Every day they have been focussed on improving and fine tuning their performance little by little until they were ready to perform at their best.
The results have been a great success for our mathematicians in the North East Asia Mathematical Challenge (NEAMC) in Nanjing, wide ranging success for our film makers at the Shanghai Student Film Festival, success for our football teams in the Shanghai Cup where they were first and second, and last but not least the success of our actors in their acclaimed performances in the BISS Puxi production of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
I would also like to congratulate the PTA on the success of the PTA International Food Evening. The event was sold out well in advance and the evening was again a stunning success with a wide variety of food and beverages available and a lovely opportunity to meet other members of the parent body from all over the world.
It has been a very busy term and we have a lot to look back on with pride in a job well done. However, there is still a week of term left with our Under 13 athletes away in Brunei for the FOBISIA Games, our Year 12 students away on a field trip and all of the excitement of the international week in primary still to come.
