The garden party concluded a very exciting week at school with the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme Launch, the continued work with Clive Leach on Mental Toughness and Coaching Conversations, the visit from the Splendid Theatre Company and the ACAMIS football tournament, which both our boys and girls teams won, amongst others.
With the exception of a couple of appointments we have completed our ex-pat staff recruitment for the new academic year 2015-16. We work very hard on this important area of work and we have the Nord Anglia Education “Outstanding Teachers for Outstanding Schools” (OTOS) as a framework for our processes. We are delighted with the quality of the staff we have secured. They are all outstanding teachers, with a passion for helping others to be the best they can be and the right characteristics and attitudes to be successful at our school and to take it on to the next level. Almost all of them originate from the United Kingdom and were trained there so that they are highly skilled and experienced in delivering the English National Curriculum. There is a good balance of ages and experience with families and single staff. Many of them have had some international experience but some are also straight from the UK. Over the next week or so you will find the staff profiles for all of the new staff appearing on the website in the staff section. See the link below for the Early Years Cubs and Primary staff profiles that we have uploaded already.
The induction of these new staff has already started and over the next couple of months they will be completing a number of Nord Anglia University online professional development courses. Those who are in the UK will be invited to London for an induction event. All of our new staff will relocate into Shanghai in early August and will have two weeks getting themselves established in their new homes and preparing for the start of the new school year.
All of this talk of new staff will of course set people thinking about form teachers for next year. We are of course still recruiting new students for next year and therefore until we have fairly firm final numbers we will not be making any announcements. We plan to publish primary class lists a couple of weeks before the end of term. The usual approach is that the class groupings will by and large stay together and move through as a class to the next year but there may need to be some rebalancing of classes in some years dependent on leavers and starters and class dynamics.
It would be helpful in the meantime, if you have not already done so, to let the admissions team know your intentions for next year. Please email them on email@example.com. I am grateful to the vast majority of families who have already informed us of their plans.
