Don’t Miss a Splendid Show!

08 april 2015

Award winning UK based theatre group, Splendid Theatre Company are coming to BISS Puxi. They specialise in adapting popular stories for young adults onto the stage and we are very pleased to have them here working with our students and also putting on a performance for the wider community.

  • Splendid Theatre Company bring Woyzeck to BISS Puxi

We believe that it is incredibly important that pupils are able to experience professional live theatre and so are delighted to welcome the Splendid Theatre Company to our school.

For the first time ever this outstanding theatre company are travelling to Asia to perform their show ‘Woyzeck’ at BISS Puxi.

‘Woyzeck’ is their new creative adaptation of Georg Büchner's unfinished classic novel. Designed to keep the most pessimistic of young adults gripped to their seats and laughing uncontrollably, the play follows lowly soldier Franz Woyzeck, living in poverty with his wife, Marie, and a child to support, as he becomes a medical experiment for the regimental Doctor. But is it his diet of peas that leads him into the forest with a knife, or the rumours of what Marie has been doing with the peacocking Drum Major? This Brechtian style production featuring live music, dark comedy and audience interaction demands the audience to question the story rather than simply accept the answers.

The show is being performed at 7pm on Wednesday 15 March in the secondary auditorium and is open to the whole community. Tickets will be available on the door for 60RMB. The production will last only approximately 70 minutes and is suitable for anyone above the age of 11.

To register please email events@bisspuxi.com and for more information on the production can be found at their official website we hope to see you there!
