They gave three truly outstanding and professional performances of this dark musical comedy and were greeted with a standing ovation on the closing night. If you missed the performance, an official school recording will be made available via the publication department soon. Thanks must also go to the staff of the Performing Arts department who worked tirelessly for months to ensure this production was a success. We hope to see you back soon for the KS2 production of ‘Annie’ in May.
Before the Key Stage 2 production of Annie however, we are excited to welcome Splendid Productions to BISS Puxi in April. Splendid Productions are an Award Winning UK Theatre Company who have performed at all the major theatres in the UK and are world renowned for their education program. Last year this company made their debut performance in Asia at BISS Puxi when they performed ‘Woyzeck’. This year they are returning to perform their adaptation of ‘Odyssey’.
In a brand new creative theatrical adaptation, they retell the story of Odysseus and his famously inconvenient journey home from the Trojan War. Packing a decade of adventures into a breathless hour, Splendid's heroic cast of three create a mythical world of hungry monsters, devious sorceresses and frequent shipwrecks as the resourceful Odysseus battles to return to his family. A classic story meets high-energy storytelling.
During the morning of Thursday 14 April, the company will be running a series of practical workshops with our GCSE and IB Drama students and any Year 9 students who are interested in taking GCSE Drama next year. In the afternoon, all pupils in Year 8-Year 10 will be watching Splendid’s performance of ‘Odyssey’ along with those pupils who were in the morning workshop.
Members of the local community can also experience this unique opportunity to watch this outstanding performance. There will be an evening show at 7pm on Thursday 14 April which is open to the whole community. Tickets are available for 60 RMB via Yoopay, see below, and refreshments will be available before the show. The production will last approximately 70 minutes and is suitable for anyone above the age of 11.
More information on the production can be found at their official website with tickets available for purchase at our online payment platform, here.
