As a school, we have been working with and supporting the students of ISF for over 7 years. ISF is an international charity which supports some of the most deprived children in Cambodia, focusing on those from the slums of Phnom Penh who have never been able to attend school or have had to drop out due to extreme poverty. Denied this critical early education, they are left illiterate, lagging behind their peers and lacking in confidence so ISF works with their families to get them back into education and to help build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Year 12 students have been raising money for ISF all year in different charity events. Their main activities have been to help the PTA organise the Christmas Fair and this week’s Easter Egg hunt in Secondary. The money raised will go towards sponsoring students for a whole year to cover the costs of uniforms, educational materials, teacher salaries, school registration fees, daily breakfasts and lunches, monthly food rations for families and personal hygiene products.
A lot of the health and hygiene issues in these Cambodian communities can be solved by simple hygiene products and toiletries. If you are going on holiday this Easter and are staying in hotels, please can we ask you to collect any hotel toiletries such as shampoo/conditioners and toothbrush kits. Year 12 students will then deliver these to the ISF schools in June. Other items needed by these communities are old school uniforms that are still in good condition and simple English books. If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, please bring them into our school receptions after the Easter holidays. Thank you for all your support and wishing everyone a very Happy Easter!
