A Busy Year for Primary Comes to an End

29 juni 2016

I have just about had time this busy week to catch my breath and remind myself that the school year has all but passed.

  • Primary Students

It seems to have gone so quickly in a blur of activity, amazing events and of course great fun. Children that started in August new to their year group are now ‘old hands’, more confident and independent than before and strong and resilient, ready and eager to move on.

At the end of the year it is time to thank those who have helped make it so successful. First on the list is our talented staff, committed to providing the very best education for the children, who regularly plan exciting experiences designed to capture the children’s enthusiasm for learning. They skilfully ensure that each individual child progresses both academically and socially, forming supportive bonds with them so that they feel cared for and secure. They work so hard.

Next to thank is you, our parents, who support us and the children in so many ways, especially by recognising and appreciating that we want the very best for the children – just like you. Our parent community is exceptional and in the playground often we see parents helping each other, particularly those new to Shanghai; you are a terrific resource to our school community. And that is not to forget the many events you organise; parties, magicians, discos to name only a few. We are so grateful for your support and your advocacy of the school.

But most importantly my thanks go to our wonderful children who give us such joy and so much pleasure just by being themselves and by being ready and keen to learn and by being good friends to each other. There is not a day goes past when they fail to make us smile and we marvel at their curiosity, their eagerness to learn and their sense of fun. They are what we are all about!

So a fond farewell to those families and staff who are now leaving us, not least of all our Principal Mr Kevin Foyle. We will miss him and you all, but know like him you will take good memories and our best wishes with you. To others who are returning - have great break, a good rest and some wonderful family time. We look forward to seeing you all again in August, refreshed, revitalised and ready for another exciting school year! Happy holidays!
