Pleased to Meet You: Kris van der Mynsbrugge

Later he discovered his real interest lay in trying to understand the world around him. This led him to the University of Ghent to study History.

Watch the interview with Kris.

During these studies, Kris specialised in Colonial History. After his graduation, he decided to become a teacher. Kris obtained a teaching degree and worked for a couple of years in Secondary Education teaching History and Dutch. His ongoing interest in other cultures led him to start teaching Dutch as a second language in 2004. He received an additional degree in Adult Education and specialised in teaching the Dutch language to non-native speakers. Kris’ wife is also a teacher and during the school holidays they often travelled all over the world. When their children Djef and Zita were born, he joined them on their travels and soon the whole family fell in love with the Asian subcontinent. Kris and his wife decoded to look for a job in this region. In January 2014, they moved to Shanghai to experience living and working in China.
