Year 1 Scientists

This week the children in Year 1 have become Scientists! They have been learning about different materials and their properties.

They have been learning about different materials and their properties. They looked closely at each of the materials under a microscope and then grouped the objects based upon what they are made from. They described plastic as smooth and strong, fabric as soft and metal as tough and cold.

They have also been carrying out investigations to find out which materials would absorb water. They planned their investigation and found the equipment which they would need to use. They then recorded their results and found out that sponge and paper towels do absorb water but foil and plastic shapes do not.
