Reception are continuing to discover the Juilliard toolbox as an effective learning aid in their exploration of music through song, movement and classroom percussion.
In Year 1 students are continuing with the Juilliard resources that explore Beethoven’s 5th symphony. They have been learning about articulation including staccato and legato
Year 2 students have been learning about chords and triads and beginning to play keyboard triads in the key of C.
Our trumpeting Year 3 students can now play 3 notes and are learning to echo improvisations over a blues form.
The Year 4 students have been continuing their Chinese music focus with an investigation of Chinese notation which we discovered is a rather efficient and elegant way to notate.
Year 5 students are right in the middle of their exciting computer music project. They have finished building their soundbanks and are now beginning to construct rhythmic patterns as the foundation of their soundtrack composition.
In Year 6 flute is still our focus. Students have also used a Ligeti work in the Juilliard toolbox to hone their ability to recognise the timbre of some wind instruments.
