Sports Report

02 maart 2017

BISS Lions Sport over the last few weeks has been very busy withChina Basketball tournaments, swim meets, volleyball competitions, rugby and netball fixtures and the senior football season; not to mention the competitions the U13 FOBISIA atheletes have been taking part in as they warm up for their games in Jakarta.

  • BISS Lions

Under 11 sport

The under 11 and under 9 rugby teams continue to develop their skills in a competitive environment through matches against LFS,  the Sea Horses and all the other British schools around the city.  Games have been close and of developing quality and the young lions are thoroughly enjoying getting their teeth into the opposition. The under 11 netball teams are also making great progress in their season as they work hard to take on the other British education schools in the city.  Their shooting is certainly improving and they are passing the ball very well after a few extra training sessions with their coach.

ACAMIS Basketball

U13 Football and basketball

In a warm up for the U13 Games in Jakarta, the girls’ and boys’ teams took on the other FOBISIA affiliated schools in Shanghai, Dulwich, NAIS, Dulwich Suzhou and Wellington at Football and basketball.  The BISS Lions played very well throughout the tournament and dominated the results becoming champions in all four competitions only losing one game all day.  A few days later the same teams  were again competing in U13 Athletics which was a much tighter result.  The BISS Lions came second place in the overall results by a handful of points with many students taking home medals for their individual events.  A great result and plenty to learn from going into the games next week.

U14 Volleyball

The ever growing CSL Volleyball tournament which is a competitive tournament aimed to prepare students for SISAC next year.  Both tournaments were particularly high level and our teams played some excellent volleyball. The girls were 5th overall after being knocked out in the early rounds.  The boys worked hard to come back from a 1:0 deficit against our sister school, NAIS PD  to win 1:2 in the semi-final.  The Lions lost in two very close sets against a very strong SAS Puxi side in the final.  Coaching this boys group was Ajay Ramesh Babu of the D1 BISS Lions team.  He was outstanding all through the day leading and motivating the boys to their best performance to date.
