Teachers on those trips have talked in glowing terms about the students’ engagement in the various projects and it certainly will be remembered by all as one of the highlights of their Diploma Programme.
Next year also promises to be another very exciting one – Year 12 have collectively had an excellent first year of the Diploma Programme and are well placed to build upon that success in Year 13, leading ultimately to examination success. We were also highly impressed by the work done by the Year 11 students on the Pre-IB programme and are confident that they will fully embrace the challenges and opportunities that will come their way in the 2017/18 academic year.
Shorltly after our school holidays begin next week, the final results for Year 13 students are upon us. These will be accessible to students (using their log in details for the IB candidates website) from 12:00 GMT on 6th July. Students (or parents) who need advice or support following the issue of results should get in touch with myself, Mark Weston or Thomas Housham. Specifically, I will be able to deal with questions about the results themselves (including how to access them), Mr Weston is best placed to offer advice and support for university admission while Mr Housham is the go-to person for issues such as re-marks or re-takes.
Meanwhile, we wish our Year 12 students a very pleasant summer. Although they do have some important work to undertake during the vacation (particularly first drafts of Extended Essay and Mathematics Internal Assessment for HL students), there should also be plenty of time for leisure activities and relaxation. School resumes on Wednesday 16th August and everyone in the IB Academy looks forward to seeing everyone again then.
On a personal note, I will be moving to pastures new in the next school year and I would like to take the opportunity to thank both parents and students for being a real pleasure to work with throughout my time as BISS. I wish our students every success for the future.
Andrew Joy, Head of IB Academy
