Giving Tree

The Giving Tree

The time to support the Giving Tree has returned! The Giving Tree is a charity event managed by The Community Center Shanghai and their aim is to provide a bag filled with essential items to underprivileged children in China. The Giving Tree is not only a way of helping these children get through the winter but also, to share with them the privileges that we are so lucky to have. This year, our aim as a school is to fill 350 bags.

Giving Tree Ceremony

How does it work?

Step 1: Register no later than 13 November 2020. It is 225RMB for a bag that we will fill with a hygiene kit, stationary items and a fleece after you’ve returned the bag.

Step 2: You will receive an empty Giving Tree bag and a card.

Step 3: Buy a Chinese book and a thermos of your own choice to fill your bag. Spend no more than 50RMB on the book and thermos and Chinese books with both words and illustrations suitable for children age 6-11 are preferred.

Step 4: Sign the card and put it together with the book and thermos in the bag.

Step 5: Return the bag to Primary or Secondary reception – no later than 7 December 2020.

When will I receive my bag?

Bags will be distributed to students starting from the 26 October following this weekly schedule:

  • Monday and Wednesday morning: Year 7, 8, 9.
  • Monday and Wednesday afternoon: (Pre-)Nursery, Reception, Year 1, 2, 3.
  • Tuesday and Thursday morning: Year 10, 11, 12, 13.
