This week the children will be continuing on the Greek Myth ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. We will now be focusing on different ways to start a story. We will be learning about the use of description, action and dialogue to engage the reader right from the beginning of the story. The children will also have a focused grammar lesson on using the past tense.

This week we will be covering our next unit of measure. The children will be focusing on estimating, measuring, adding and subtracting weight. The children will look at how to read scales and identify the missing numbers, as well as developing their practical skills by using balance scales and weighing scales. A great week to get the children into the kitchen to help follow recipes and weigh out ingredients!

This week, the children will be starting our science topic. This will cover rocks and fossils. It is a very practical two week unit, where the children will learn about the three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic, as well as the rock cycle.

In PHSCE this week the children will be looking at recognising their worth as individuals, by identifying positive things about themselves and their achievements. We will be focusing on identifying the mistake we make, how they can be put right and set personal goals for the future.
