Media Studies Sci-Fi Fridays: Y10

Dear Parents

I am writing to let you know of several forthcoming film screenings for Year 10 Media Studies students.

To tie in with our forthcoming topic of Science Fiction film (groups will be making their own SF film after the summer) we are going to hold screenings of key sci-fi films on Fridays after school. These will be double-bills (two films shown together) and will take place in Room 237 on Fridays from 4:00pm until around 8:00pm. We will order in food and snacks, though students will have to bring their own money to pay for these. Students will also be responsible for making their own way home afterwards.

There is no entry fee and students aren’t obliged to come to all or any of our sessions – this is an optional extra activity to add to their research and stimulate their interest beyond the classroom.

The films will all be of suitable ratings for Year 10 (nothing above a UK ‘15’ rating). Further information on film content can be found online, notably at www.bbfc.co.uk.

However, please sign and return the slip below to acknowledge that you are happy for your child to join in this activity and are aware of the content of the films that they will see.

SCHEDULE
Friday 15 May - ‘Exploring Space’: Sunshine (2007) & Moon (2009)
Friday 5 June - ‘The Future’: Children of Men (2006) & Minority Report (2002)
Friday 12 June - ‘Time Travel’: Donnie Darko (2001) & Looper (2012)

We’ll schedule some classic sci-fi screenings after the summer!

Regards

RUS EKKEL
