MESSAGES

  • Reminder: Parent-Teacher Consultations are on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Thank you to all parents who have made an appointment, we are looking forward to talking to you. If you haven’t made an appointment, but would like to, please talk to your class teacher.
  • Please make sure your child has at least three spare sets of clothes (t-shirt, trousers/skirt, underwear, socks and jumper), to allow us to change your child if needed.
  • Thank you for your patience when picking up your child after lunch and at the end of the day. For the safety of the children, we send them out one by one after we have seen the caregiver who is picking them up.
  • Swimming: Please remember swimming is on Tuesday! IT’S FUN! IT’S WARM! IT BUILDS WATER CONFIDENCE FOR THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE TOILET TRAINED!

OUR LEARNING THEMES

Each teacher will plan learning experiences that link to the readiness and interests that they observe in the children in their class.  While these separate themes operate in each room, the children know they are free to choose to work in another room.  The planning is specific to each classroom, but not confined to that class, so children have many rich opportunities available to them across the three classrooms.  Mandarin teaching will link into each theme, with the Mandarin speaking staff introducing specific language, books and songs.

TIGER AND POLAR BEAR CUBS

In the Tigers’ class, the children have still been really fascinated by  driving their cars around a  the tuff spot and we have enhanced this by adding paint to the tray to make tracks and patterns.  There has also been a lot of interest in road building using blocks and balack paper and chalk to make road markings.  We have also been using threading beads and links to make necklaces and snakes.  Next week we wil decorate pieces of card tube and thread these to make snakes using our own designs.

In the Polar Bear room the children have been showing lots of interest in shape, by drawing around 2D shapes, identifying them by name and looking for different shapes in their environment.  Next week we will extend their interest by making shape pictures and printing with shapes. Some children have also been exploring sound by using different containers to change the sound of their voice. Next week we will make use of the boom-wackers to create our own mini microphones.

BADGER AND BOBCAT CUBS

The children in Bobcat Class have really enjoyed playing with aeroplanes and helicopters this week. We will continue to nurture this interest with activities revolving around transport. Next week there will be matching game activities and some number correspondence activities all involving different forms of transport.

The children in Badger Class are still showing a fascination with dinosaurs. We  will continue to give them access to the plastic dinosaurs, placing them in a range of ‘environments’. The children have started to learn the words and some actions to ‘Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurumpus!’ by Tony Mitton, and we will continue to read this as a class. We will also talk about individual dinosaurs names. Next week we will use create dinosaurs using paint and other craft materials.
