MESSAGES

  • International Week – Week beginning 26 March. Please join us on:

Monday 26 March 8:25am in the Primary Playground as we begin our International Week with a song.

Thursday 29 March 9:00am for our International Parade, we encourage all children (and adults) to come dressed in special clothing from their home country. Our Chatterbox café will be open for refreshments during this time.

  • After consultation with staff, parents and importantly pupils we have developed a series of new polices of BISS Puxi Primary. These policies include, Assessment Reporting & Recording, Behaviour, Pastoral Care (Ethos & Values), Bullying Prevention, BISS House System and Pupil VoiceLeadership. The policies are recorded on the parent portal.

LITERACY

The children have continued working through the story writing process with the focus of their writing on building suspense. They have also been continuing their work on different grammatical and punctuation areas such as speech and adverbial phrases. Next week the children will begin writing their stories using the plans developed in previous lessons.

MATHS

In Maths this week, the children will be working in teams to solve a data handling challenge. They will be using and applying the skills they learnt last week in a read world scenario.

THEME – Science focus

In Science this week, the children will be carrying out an investigation linked to the size of shadows. They will be focusing on planning and carrying out a fair test. The children will then use their results to write a detailed conclusion and evaluation.

COMPUTING

Over the course of this half-term, children will be improving their Microsoft Word and Publisher skills. First they will learn how to open a Word document and ‘Save as’ in order to make changes to it. They will progress on to changing the font, text colour and size, as well as underline and bold in order to change the appearance of the information in a document.

PSHCE

Our PSHE theme this week is COMPASSION. Children will be learning what compassion means and about mindfulness and empathy in the context of bullying.

DUTCH

Wat hebben we enorm hard gewerkt in de klas. De showcase komt eraan en dat is te merken. Er wordt gedicht, gerijmd, gedanst, geoefend en gezongen. Volgende week sluiten we ons thema af met een wervelend straattheater. U komt toch ook op 14 maart om kwart voor 5?

Nieuwsbegrip (begrijpend lezen)

Afgelopen week hadden we allemaal een tekst op eigen niveau over “ De week zonder vlees”.

We oefenen komende week met het voordragen van onze eigen gemaakte gedichten en doen een generale repetitie. Met Nieuwsbegrip kijken we eerst naar de tekst en proberen te voorspellen waar de tekst over zal gaan. Na het lezen gaan we na of onze voorspelling correct was. We gaan aan de hand van de tekst dieper in op moeilijke woorden die we tegenkomen en maken de vragen.

This weekend’s homework is to choose an activity from our Shared Learning Grid.

Next week in class, we will continue to learn some Spring vocabulary and use this to write some descriptive sentences. We will focus more upon Easter, learning an Easter song with both familiar and new vocabulary.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger

Next week we will extend our vocabulary on personal descriptions by talking about the clothes people are wearing.

This week`s homework will be writing a personal description of one the heroes of the comic for our `Qui est-ce?` or `Guess who?` starter.

For homework this week, students are expected to complete activities on the Homework Grid and bring in next week to share with the class. 

Next week in class, students will begin to be introduced the Spanish Easter traditions. We will be revising colour vocabulary, reading a story and learning a traditional Easter song.  

Year 3 / 4 Spanish - Mrs Jolly

The students will work on a project at The Da Vinci Centre: Design an outfit using recycling materials. This will an opportunity to expand the vocabulary and talk about patterns and sizes in Spanish.

Die Hausaufgabe für diese Woche ist im Booklet auf Seite 19. Die Kinder müssen passende Verben in einen Lückentext einsetzten und sich zu sechs Verben jeweils einen Satz ausdenken.
Nächste Woche werden wir zunächst noch weiter Verben in den verschiedenen Personalformen besprechen, aber auch schon beginnen, Wörter in der Wörterliste nachzuschlagen.
