MESSAGES

  • The Winter Concert will take place on 7th December – we look forward to seeing you there.
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.

LITERACY

This week the children will continue their final unit of the term: biography.  Children will look at the features and learn how to write them effectively.

Don’t forget to learn all of your spellings!

MATHS

The children will learn about measure this week.  They will convert g to kg, ml to l, cm to m etc.  The week will end with some measure themed problem solving.

We will have a quick mental maths test on Friday – please practice times tables in preparation for these.

THEMED LEARNING

This week we will be ending their World War 2 topic.  They will choose an area that has interested them, and make a video or presentation as part of an inquiry based project.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

This week, we will continue learning coding skills using the program: Python.  The children will work in groups and try and ‘debug’ each other’s work.

In PSHCE this term we will be looking at teamwork and collaborative working.  We will focus further on fostering new relationships, creating rules and expectations for the group and how to work together successfully.

DUTCH

Voor de voorstelling van Tosca Menten hebben de leerlingen  fantastische  presentaties in de klas gehouden. De  leraren en de leerlingen waren goed voorbereid en allemaal erg enthousiast. De voorstellingen  van Tosca Menten voor de Nederlandse kinderen en voor de overige kinderen waren een groot succes.

De tentoonstelling over Tosca Menten staat nog even bij de Primary Reception,  iedereen kan hier het werk van de leerlingen bewonderen.

Nu zijn de leerlingen allemaal bezig met de vraag: “Waar is Sinterklaas?”. We hebben het `SDS Sinterklaasjournaal ` bekeken en we vragen ons nu allemaal af of het feest wel door kan gaan.

Er wordt hard gewerkt: er worden gedichten en brieven geschreven, er wordt aan cadeaus gewerkt en aanstaande dinsdag mogen alle leerlingen de schoen zetten.

Vrijdag komt de Sint (hopelijk) aan en vergeet je niet aan te melden voor de gezellige Sinterklaas afterparty.

Next week we will continue our celebration topic, getting ready for the Christmas celebrations. We make a wish list for Father Christmas and will talk about the Christmas presents we got the previous year.    We start making a Christmas wreath, une couronne, to fill it with Christmas related vocabulary.

Next week the children will complete their end of term Kahoots, for the rest of the class to perform.

Homework for this weekend is to write the meaning of each phrase and fill in the blanks with the questions in the box from those studied in lesson 6.

Next week we will start to read a new book on buying fruit 买水果. We will review the names of different fruits, and look at expressing questions using 要不要.
