Our School Security policy aims to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff at all times.
Our on site security is delivered by a team of competent guards, who are employed by the school; their direct line manager is Kyle Gong (Head of School facilities) who reports to the school Principal, Kevin Foyle. The site has five access points, two of which are manned 24hr a day, one which is opened at set times for bike access during school drop-off and pick-up and two which are for vehicle access as required. The proposed improvements to our access policy are to ensure that our health and safety measures already in place for our students and staff are continuously enhanced; there have not been any incidents which have prompted this review.

- Parents/carers will be asked to wear their lanyard at drop-off and pick-up. If they do not have their ID card then they will need to register as a visitor before entry into the school is permitted.
- During the school day outside of drop-off (8.15am – 8.50am) and pick-up times (3.15pm – 4.00pm) parents will not be permitted onto the campus unless they have an appointment with a member of staff. Exceptions to this will include visits to the uniform shop/dining halls to charge lunch cards/PTA meetings/Finance/Parent information session.
- For pre-arranged appointments and meetings a daily list (The Daily List) will be given to the guards on the day before by the PS and SS receptionists/secretaries. This will include all calendared meetings, admission appointments, contractors etc.
- Regular visitors, BISCAP coaches etc. will be issued with cards at the beginning of each term. A day/s of week and time will be noted on the card.
- For visits which are not pre-arranged the following system will be followed:
- The guard will ask the visitors who they would like to see, if the name is not listed on the daily appointment schedule (The Daily List) they should call reception.
- Reception will talk to the visitor via the telephone to ascertain details of their request. If the receptionist is able to assist the visitor over the phone they should do so, for example taking a message for a teacher who is unavailable. If a visit is requested to a member of the teaching staff/head of school etc. and, after checking with the relevant member of staff, they are available then the receptionist should grant access, ensuring a temporary visitor’s lanyard is issued unless a parental one is displayed. The member of staff will meet the visitor in reception. (and take responsibility for returning them to reception)
- If the visitor is delivering an item to school, e.g. forgotten text book then the same procedure as above will be followed, the receptionist should grant access and take delivery. The receptionist will ensure that the guest does not leave the reception area and leaves the building as quickly as possible. A temporary visitor’s lanyard will be issued unless a parental one is displayed.
- All visitors to the school will sign-in and out with the guards, if the visit is outside of drop-off/pick-up times.
- If in doubt all enquiries will be directed to the Heads of School or Principal’s PA.
