In 2007 Paul started a 2 Year Masters degree at the University of Cambridge where he focussed on the use of the Student Voice to develop learning within the school. Having completed his Masters he was keen to further develop his career in an unfamiliar setting. Paul moved with his family to BISS Puxi in 2011 becoming Head of PE, before taking the post of Head of Key Stage 4. In August 2015, Paul became the Deputy Head of Pastoral in the school.
Moving to BISS Puxi was a very easy decision for Paul as he was keen to work in a fast moving international environment with likeminded practitioners. No day here is ever dull as the students are keen to push the boundaries of their learning and the staff are keen to experiment with their practice in order to give our students a better learning experience.
Paul enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. They participate in a number of sporting activities together so most weekends are taken up with the girls competing somewhere in Shanghai.
Paul coaches a range of sports but his favoured 3 are football, basketball and boxing. He is keen to stay fit and healthy and still occasionally plays football and takes part in some boxing coaching. When he is not ferrying the girls to fixtures or practise sessions he enjoys reading.
Paul enjoys achieving new things, either as an individual or as part of a team. He has played competitive sport for most of his life and takes the same attitude into his work and personal life, if he is going to do something, he wants to do it to the best of his ability.
What students say about me...
"I like the fast pace of Mr Kelly's lessons and feel confortable trying new things without worrying if it's going to go wrong."
"Mr Kelly doesn't mind if we get something wrong the first time, as long as we learn from it for the next time."
