Your stay in Florida
Students and chaperones from all schools will be staying at the Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista, which is a 15 minute drive southeast from Windermere Preparatory School. The official host hotel of the 2017 Global Games, The Americas offers 2 pools, a game room, a convenience store and a bistro, and is just five miles away from Downtown Disney.
Students will check-in on Tuesday, November 28th and depart on Saturday, December 2nd. Chaperones will have their own room, while children will have their own bed in a shared room with one or two other students. Breakfast will be served each morning and is included in the room rate. Please note Windermere Preparatory students will not stay at this hotel.
When your child arrives, they will register at the hotel to receive name badges, tickets and passes for evening activities, as well as room keys and a pack with more information on the schedule. Schools will be assigned a registration time to cut down on queues.
All travel to the hotel and the school will be arranged by Nord Anglia Education. Students flying from out of state will be met at Orlando International Airport and transported to the hotel by bus, while Florida students will travel by bus to and from the hotel.
There are also prearranged buses to Windermere Preparatory School, the hotel, and to all evening activities.
All flights will be booked by Nord Anglia Education. It will be your responsibility (the parent) to drive your child to and from the airport. Parents will need to park their car and check-in thier child with the designated chaperone at the airline check-in desk.
Our package includes the price of a chaperone, who will accompany your child during the Global Games. Your child’s safety is hugely important, so a coach will ensure that they are looked after at all times. Each chaperone will be in charge of ten students, and are required to attend all five days of the games. For more information on chaperoning, contact your school’s athletic director, who will appoint coaches and chaperones.
