Principal’s Update: Parent Partnership

A phrase that is often used in education is that school is a partnership between the staff and the parents. I would completely agree with this statement, as I am sure all my colleagues would too. The stronger we can make the bond and communication between the staff and the parents, then the better the education for each and every child.

During this academic year we wish to offer a greater number and variety of opportunities for parents to be able to discuss any issues to do with the ongoing development of the school. We made initial strides last year in terms of increasing the number of Parents Evenings and will continue to expand across other areas this year.

Today has seen an extremely well-attended event explaining our Early Years programme in greater detail. This is in addition to our Primary Information Evenings and a Secondary Open Forum held over the past few weeks. Please keep an eye out for similar events happening throughout the year and attend when you can. By collecting all our ideas together and hearing different views we can ensure our efforts have the greatest impact.

Another new introduction will be a School Advisory Board. A few parents and other members of our community will be invited to be part of this group to help oversee the overall aims for the long-term development of the school. Our school is incredibly well supported by Nord Anglia Education, and the addition of a local Advisory Board will provide an even stronger foundation to assist the school in the years ahead.

Finally, whilst mentioning parent-school partnership, can I once again acknowledge and thank the PTA for all their hard work and commitment to the school and the students. A further thanks also to all the Parent Reps who have volunteered to help out with their class and year group this year. We have some big events coming up this term and the PTA and the Parent Reps make a huge difference in creating the wonderful community atmosphere that is felt here.
