Mrs Cronin graduated with a Bachelor of Education(honors) degree in Education from Mary Immaculate College, Ireland in 2013. Mrs Cronin has taught in a variety of school settings in Ireland and Australia. She has also taught English in South Africa and Italy during the summer months. Having experience teaching in different countries has allowed her to experience a variety of teaching methodologies which she incorporates into her own teaching.
Mrs Cronin has taught all age groups but the majority of her experience is teaching Foundation Stage. Seeing the progression each student makes throughout the year is very rewarding and watching children develop into confident learners is something she enjoys most about the Early Years.
Prior to moving to BIS Abu Dhabi, she taught Junior Infants in a multicultural school in Ireland for three years, as well as taking on a leadership role of Assistant Principal in the past year.
From Mrs Cronin:
I love living life to the full and always up for trying new things. I am passionate about travelling and each year I try to go somewhere new. In 2014, I took a year to do a world trip and visited a variety of countries meeting very interesting people along the way and experiencing different cultures. My favourites included Fiji and New Zealand. I really love to immerse myself into new cultures and experiences.
I love being outdoors and going for long walks or swimming in the beach. Coming from Ireland it is always cold, so I rarely got the opportunity to go to the beach or enjoy activities in the sun. I love listening to all genres of music and dancing. I enjoy incorporating both music and dance into my teaching. I recently joined a Zumba class which is great fun and I look forward to joining more classes in my new home.
The British International School shares similar values to myself in the way the school is committed to ensuring the holistic development of each children both personally, physically, academically and emotionally. Children are taught to be ambitious and challenged in new ways with no limit to learning. Coming from a small school in Ireland, having other teachers to share ideas and plan with is really exciting for me. I am really impressed with the range of extra-curricular activities available to students at BIS and I enjoy getting involved in all aspects of school life.
