I spent my first 10 years in two single sex grammar schools in and around Liverpool before moving to Doha College, Qatar as Director of Science. My next move was to the British International School, Phuket where I spent 7 years moving from Head of Science to Assistant Head and finally Deputy Head of Secondary dealing mainly with the curriculum side of the Secondary School. Seeking to further my career, I was successful in being appointed as Head of Secondary at Regent’s International School, Bangkok. I have also been fortunate to have travelled the world as a member, and latterly a Team Co-Chair, of the Council of International Schools Accreditation teams helping a wide variety of schools on their individual journeys to excellence.
During the past 20 or so years of teaching, there have been a number of highlights. These include successfully tutoring a number of students to achieve places to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities amongst other Russel Group Universities in the UK., my last school achieving an IB Diploma average of 36.1 points, a truly remarkable achievement given the wholly inclusive nature of the school but not unexpected given the talent of the students and staff, but perhaps above all playing a part in guiding students to surpass their own expected levels of academic success and personal achievement. The taste of success is something I would like every student to experience throughout their time in Secondary School.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking (and tasting the fruits of my labours), travelling, playing racquet sports and reading crime novels. I came to Abu Dhabi with my wife, Fon who is also enjoying experiencing a new country, its culture and people, and of course meeting and working with the students, staff and parents at BIS Abu Dhabi.
