I graduated from St.Patrick’s College Drumcondra in 2013 with a B.Ed and spent my first few months working around Dublin City before taking up a position in the city suburb of Walkinstown where I have spent the last 6 years teaching in the Assumption Junior School. The Assumption is a wonderful, creative and diverse school with children from many nationalities and backgrounds. The school have been wonderfully supportive to me as a teacher and encourage an ethos of inclusivity and ambition, like that of BIS Abu Dhabi. I have enjoyed my time there with highlights including the establishment of after-school sports clubs, school dramas and International day.
I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. I am the latest in a long line of teachers in my family therefore graduating was as much a family tradition as a career choice. I was raised in a musical household where my mother and grandmother could be heard singing anything from ABBA to Evita around the house.
My father cursed me as a Leeds United fan, to whom myself and my 2 brothers are loyal and long-suffering fans. Family and friends are a huge part of my life and I place enormous value on community and investing in community spirit. I play Gaelic Football for my local club where I have coached younger teams since the age of 16. I have a keen interest in fitness and movement which helps to counterbalance my appreciation for a delicious slice of pizza.
