Having had a desire and passion for teaching from an early age, I achieved my goal graduating from Lancaster University, in the UK, with a BA (Hons) degree in Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status.
I have spent the majority of my teaching career in Key Stage 2 (mostly Year 6) in a variety of schools in the North West of England. In addition to my class teaching responsibilities, wider roles have included: Head of Key Stage, English Subject Leader, PE Subject Leader, Science Subject Leader, Marker for Statutory Assessments and Local Authority Moderator for Writing.
Working as a team is vital and throughout my career I have enjoyed supporting and mentoring colleagues including trainee teachers.
As a class teacher I have extensive experience organising school visits, including residential trips. I believe learning outside of the classroom to be an additional dimension contributing to the holistic education of the child.
I feel very privileged to have been afforded the opportunity to work alongside a fantastic team of highly skilled, hardworking and dedicated teachers at the British International School. Relocating to Abu Dhabi was a totally new challenge for me however, I was attracted to this school in particular because of the ethos and strong emphasis on being a welcoming family community striving to achieve excellence and never settling for anything less. The facilities and opportunities, including being part of the Global Campus, make for the best possible quality learning environment.
On a personal note, I was born near Liverpool in England. I love all sports particularly hockey and swimming and enjoy keeping fit and active. Reading is another passion of mine and my enthusiasm and love of literature I hope will encourage and inspire the children to develop their own life- long love of reading for pleasure.
