I began my career in Leamington Spa at a large comprehensive school where I met many people who had a profound effect on my life and career – my wife for instance!
After a very happy five years I moved onto another comprehensive school, this time in inner-city Birmingham where I fulfilled lifetime ambitions such as playing rugby at Twickenham, being the lead singer in a punk band and eating cockroaches.
In 2009 I abandoned a promising career for the romance of Paris (wouldn’t you?) where I taught at the Lycee International and guided our visiting friends around the backstreets of the Left Bank, delighting them (?) with tales from the capitals past. In 2010 during the worst snow storm Paris had seen for many years, our second son was born.
After only two years we were tempted back to the Midlands where my wife had been offered the job of her dreams and I became a ‘stay-at-home Dad’ to our two boys. The pay was hopeless but the smiles were priceless. And now we find ourselves here in Abu Dhabi where there are lots of smiles to be had and where I can I tell my tales of the past to this charming international audience.
