History Teacher

Mr. Grange gained his Master’s degree from The University of Edinburgh. His PGCE from The University of Essex was delivered through SCITT style training, which gave him the opportunity to work at an outstanding school and learn what great teaching and learning looks like. Before joining BIS Abu Dhabi in 2020, he taught in Cambodia and the United Kingdom.

In 2010, I spent some time in the far east teaching English Language and pedagogy to trainee teachers. Shortly upon completion of this, I took up a post working commercially in the Middle East. It was during these years I fell in love with the region, its culture, and its people. It was also during this time that I decided to return to my first passion and seek a career teaching.

I love the classroom environment and being able to engage children with History in new and innovative ways. I loved exploring new areas of my subject and completed a course qualifying me as a battlefields tour guide in Belgium. I also sought to bring in new technologies and I was the first teacher to trial the Augmented and Virtual Reality resources being developed.

In 2017 my wife and I, along with our young boys, decided to move to the Middle East and to raise our family here. This combines my two loves, of the profession and the region. When not working we will be making the most of the excellent family entertainment in the area. Once my children are in bed you will find me reading and researching new topics ready to bring to the classroom.
