I completed my Honours Degree in Business Studies in 2010 and a Masters of Business in 2011, both in Waterford Institute of Technology on the south coast of Ireland. I then worked in a business capacity for a multinational organisation based in Dublin. After two years working I made the best decision of my life, and I completed my teaching qualifications by doing a Professional Diploma in Education in Maynooth University in 2014 and began teaching.
I started in a Secondary school in the heart of Ireland in 2014, and I’ve spent six very rewarding and successfully years there. Inside the classroom I taught Business, Economics and Accounting, while outside of it I did everything from coach the school’s sports teams, run “mini company” competitions, supervise afterschool study and lots more in-between.
BIS Abu Dhabi really appealed to me as it has a massive global community, and a fantastic track record of facilitating students to achieve high results. I enjoy working with my colleagues to help students gain an insight into the inner workings of Business and Economics. No matter what path they take after graduating, that knowledge will always stand to them.
Over my holidays I enjoy exploring different parts and cultures of the world. I have spent my last three summers in North America, Australia and Asia, and I’m hugely excited about living in Abu Dhabi. In my down time I tend to swap my suits for sports gear very quickly. Between GAA, golf and triathlons, I may have a few unexplained limps as I walk down the corridors throughout the academic year.
