I started moving abroad in 2006 when my husband and I decided to take a new challenge with our first son. We moved to Norway where I worked for the French Institute. Three years later (with a second boy and a huge lack of sun!) we arrived in Abu Dhabi very impressed by this multi-cultural city. We really enjoyed it and we were happy to easily travel from Abu Dhabi to the rest of the world.
In 2013, after many trips in Asia, we decided to go further East when we had the opportunity to move to Myanmar (ex Burma). I taught in an international school in Yangon, and on the weekends, I was volunteering to teach French in remote areas for people who couldn’t access language classes. From monks, children to elders, they were all so eager to learn. We often had to face challenges in this opening and developing country but people there will stay in our heart forever. After 3 years, full of memories from wonderful moments, we moved back to Abu Dhabi, for a new adventure in a well-known/easier environment. It felt like coming “back home”.
I am thrilled to be part of BIS Abu Dhabi and the Modern Foreign Language department since August 2016. In this international team of linguists, we love sharing practice and learning from each other. I am so grateful to have them as my colleagues and friends.
Beside teaching, my passion is yoga. I am a certified yoga teacher. I teach it at school to students, along with mindfulness. We are aware that a regular yoga and mindfulness practice can help students’ mental clarity, emotional intelligence, focus, and overall happiness and I am happy to provide it here in BIS Abu Dhabi. I also like to study and deepen my practice, so I attend teacher trainings on a regular basis. It is an intense yet rewarding journey of study and practice, with dedication.
I also love languages and have learned the language of every country where I have lived. Burmese was the trickiest, especially in writing. I’m now back to Arabic, that I want to soon speak fluently, insh’allah!
