My long-standing love for teaching has centered on my nurturing student’s belief in their own musicality through excellent performance opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Through this I aspire to provide my students with the resilience to move onto the wider world of further education, employment and engagement in Music.
After completing my Music degree, I went onto to study towards a Masters in Music IT. I decided to enter the teaching profession and for 10 years I enjoyed developing Music and Performing Arts faculties in the Greater Manchester area. During this time, I developed strong links with the departments I worked in with the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester Camerata, The Halle Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic.
In my spare time I love to cook, to walk in the English northern parks, I love to visit new countries, to follow the latest mediocre offerings from my beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers and to watch cricket. I also have a strong penchant for overly long prog rock songs!
The opportunity to develop as a classroom teacher in my first overseas post with a fantastic creative arts team at The British International School in Abu Dhabi was such an exciting opportunity that I could not refuse.
I am also very excited by the new challenge of taking up the post of Head of Year 8 who I look forward to developing into confident global citizens. I am sure that with my help the class of 2021 will enjoy recording breaking results!
