I have previously held the position of music teacher at a Nord Anglia school in Guangzhou, south of China. I love introducing different genres of music to the children and I improvise with them all the time in singing, song making and even composing. I also believe that music is preferable from a very young age, and I enjoy sharing my passion in music with the children and their parents. I am qualified for teaching Musikgarten curriculum for parents and toddlers. It was a very interesting experience as to teach music in early years, it is not about teaching musical skills but also empower the non-musical elements. Such as sharing their own moments together, for example, how music can help to build a better bonding.
After I finished my PGCE, I decided to take a Master’s degree in Music Therapy in Finland, and my dissertation is on how music can ease the anxiety of “Third Culture Kids”, who are under transitions in between cultures.
Travelling seems to be a key word of my life. I have lived in Germany, Scotland and Finland for a while. I enjoy discovering new cultures, meeting new people and to taste the local food. Although, I always think Chinese food is better, but it could be wrong as I am from China. I also enjoy going to concerts and musical, after living in Finland for years, I start to like progressive rock and electronic music. However, since I came to Abu Dhabi, I wish I could pick up some skills in playing traditional Arabic instruments.
