Following graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Counselling from ANN University in 2009, I started my career initially by working with individuals who had different learning needs, as well as supporting those with personal and social challenges.
My counselling and social work career began in my home town Nablus - West Bank, Palestine, where I enjoyed working as a psychosocial worker at YCC. I played a key role in a variety of NGO community development projects across the West Bank. This led me to meet and work with foreign people from various experiences and different cultural backgrounds.
In 2011, I moved to Dubai and joined a small behavioral and learning center. I worked as an AEN teacher, where my main role was to support the students who had behavior, social and emotional challenges and working closely with them to develop their social interaction. I held the role of work placement coordinator.
In 2013, I joined BIS Abu Dhabi as a school counsellor and social specialist. BIS Abu Dhabi is an amazing and friendly educational environment and I am extremely proud to be part of it. Joining BIS Abu Dhabi has allowed me to continually challenge my own ideas and thoughts on student’s wellbeing and to strive towards learning more based on current research.
My role as school counsellor is to listen to students and help. I take their problem seriously and work with them to cope with their life challenges and to find a good solution. No single approach is the right for every individual, and so I use range of counselling approaches including self- centered and CBT. In addition to individual counselling I conduct group counselling support focusing on social skills, friendship, anti-bullying, and behavioral issues.
I am passionate about watching and playing football. In my free time I watch the Spanish league, especially the Real Madrid matches. I also I love to keep fit and exercise, and hang out with friends when I get the time. My aspiration is to leave the world a better place, in whichever way I can.
