Celebrating one of our IGCSE 2019 highest achievers, Ali.

Celebrating one of our IGCSE 2019 highest achievers, Ali. Below Ali shares his thoughts about completing the course and his achievements:

How was your experience doing IGCSEs in BIS Abu Dhabi?

At first it was very difficult to balance the workload while playing football outside of school. However, over-time I was taught by my teachers to consistently manage my time and stay on top of my work which proved to be very helpful over the two years. Additionally, teachers were super supportive and volunteered a great amount of their time to stay back for extra afterschool revision sessions to ensure that we were fully prepared for our exams.  As a method of coping with the stress that accompanies exam season, our head of year, Mrs. Harvey, organised morning mindfulness sessions once a week to help us relax and stay positive which was very crucial throughout the end of our journey.

Are you happy with your results?

I am extremely happy with my results, especially English which was a subject that I didn’t necessarily find myself enjoying or having the motivation to study for. Luckily, with the support of my English teacher, Mrs. Baker, I managed to get a 9 in Literature and an 8 in Language, which was way higher than I expected.

What are your plans for the future?

In the future I plan to go into Mechanical Engineering, as I have always been interested in taking apart everyday objects piece by piece and then reconstructing it all back together. It combines my love for physics and curiosity of how the world around us is shaped. One day I hope to be able to innovate and design my own product that would make people’s day to day lives easier.
