One of the most exciting outcomes from The Juilliard Continuing Professional Development was that we welcomed Brian Drye in school last week. He is also one of the amazing Juilliard team who is populating the Juilliard Creative Classroom with fabulous specialist resources for our staff and students to work with. We have made a start with this already and many of our students have interacted with videos of Juilliard Alumni performing Music especially for our students.
Brian spent time observing Ms Laura Opperman teaching and gave feedback on her use of the Juilliard Creative Classroom. This series of works and resources are excellent additions to our curriculum and the Music department is working hard to embed them into daily lessons effectively.
During his observations, Brian spent time showing the students how to improve listening skills and how to identify instruments of the orchestra. Brian also gave a fantastic performance in assembly and had the audience tour the World of Jazz with his Trombone.
The students always get a lot out of these visits through finding out even more about our core works, listening to a professional musician and having the opportunity to take part in some really engaging workshops. Another sincere thank you to Brian!!!
