Before becoming a primary school teacher, I gained some experience in high schools working with pupils who needed support with exams and studying. I really enjoyed it and decided to undertake my teacher training so that I could work with pupils teaching a wider range of skills. I studied for my PGCE in Luton and trained in years 4 and 5 throughout the year which was very exciting and informative. Once qualified, I started my teaching career working in a Catholic school in Luton. I worked there for 2 years, and it is a place that I absolutely loved because the pupils and staff were lovely and passionate about learning.
Teaching is something that I thoroughly enjoy, and I have always had a passion for travelling, so I thought it would be a great idea to combine the two and apply to NAISAK. I liked the idea of teaching here because the school supported multi-disciplinary teaching which is something that I found intriguing. Meeting with the Principal face to face was a great moment for me because I was able to understand the background of the school and their vision for the future. NAISAK is expanding, and I look forward to being a part of that team.
My hobbies and interests include travelling, shopping and visiting natural historical features. I love learning about new cultures and uncovering new facts about different locations. My favourite so far has been Mexico as it is a beautiful country with a vibrant and interesting past. My most recent holiday was to visit family in Jamaica, which I absolutely loved (the food was amazing!). My personal goal is to not only be a great teacher, but a good leader as I am a role model for younger people wherever I go.
This school will be different to all others I have worked at because I have not taught in a school in Qatar, that has international links or an online community before! I am looking forward to joining the NAISAK team, being a part of the community and enhancing the educational proficiency of my pupils. I have high standards and set expectations for pupils that are fair, and anticipate working alongside parents to ensure pupil targets are reached. I am hardworking and enjoy bringing an element of fun to my lessons, allowing pupils to view learning from a different perspective. I enjoy setting personal targets for pupils to achieve, enabling them to become more confident in areas where they lack self-confidence. This year will be my second year teaching Year 4 and I cannot wait to get started!
