I completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Nottingham in 2015. My degree was in Psychology, and initially my interests lay in a career in speech therapy. However, after undertaking voluntary work experience in schools alongside my studies, I decided to train as a teacher. I completed my PGCE at The University of Exeter and then completed my NQT year at a school in Derby. I currently work in a large primary school outside of Nottingham, where I am a Year 5 class teacher and a member of the maths curriculum team.
Since my PGCE year, I have been eager to teach in an international setting, having spent a year of my undergraduate degree studying abroad in the USA. I was particularly keen to live and work in a country which would be completely new to me. The friendly and nurturing school community at NAISAK appealed to me and I am looking forward to becoming part of this community myself.
I am a keen traveller, and am always planning my next trip. In recent years I was lucky enough to visit Alaska and see some spectacular mountains and glaciers. I love getting involved in outdoor activities such as kayaking and rock climbing. I also enjoy reading and love discovering new books and authors. I enjoy going to the theatre when I get the chance. My family are based in Southampton, UK, and whilst I am looking forward to moving to Qatar, it will be strange being so far away from them.
This school will be different to all others I have worked at because I am looking forward to becoming part of a thriving international community. NAISAK seems like a busy and dynamic school where there is always lots going on. I am looking forward to being part of a team with a truly global-minded approach.
