I am a qualified primary teacher originally from Manchester, England. I studied a 3-year, primary education degree at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln. During the degree, I specialised in the upper key stage 2 age phase and sat extra assignments in both physical education and English. Having graduated from University in the summer of 2016, I accepted a job in the school where I had completed my university placement. In my first year, I taught a lovely year 5 class and having worked well with them, I followed them up into year 6. Whilst working as a class teacher, I accepted further responsibilities, including physical education lead.
Working internationally was always a dream of mine, and on August 2018, I joined NAISAK as a year 5 teacher and I have enjoyed every moment since. Since arriving at NAISAK I have accepted further responsibilities including a recent appointment as a primary assessment coordinator.
Using my creativity, I teach innovative and imaginative lessons that enhance and enrich children’s learning. I am keen to encourage effective learning and good discipline by using my organisational skills to provide an interesting classroom environment that both motivates and supports. My interpersonal skills enable me to communicate effectively on all levels and I am adept at building positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents. I share in the beliefs of NAISAK that parental involvement is extremely important and works towards developing effective relationships with the family group. The teaching skills that I have developed help me to promote confidence and self-esteem that allows children to develop into happy and successful individuals.
Outside of the classroom, I am an active, outgoing and friendly individual. I enjoy both watching and taking part in a range of sports (football, tennis, running and badminton) and I have enjoyed continuing these hobbies using Qatar’s fantastic facilities. Over the past few years, I have used my sporting interests to coach two age groups through NAISAK’s ECA programmes.
Looking to the future, I hope to further develop my skills as a class teacher, progress with further responsibilities and eventually lead a school. I believe the skills that I already have and the skills that I will continue to develop at NAISAK will lead me to be a very successful educator.
