My name is Samuel Lomax. I am 23 years old and I am a qualified primary teacher originally from Manchester, England. I studied a 3-year, primary education degree at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln. During the degree, I specialised in the upper key stage 2 age phase and sat extra assignments in both physical education and English. Having graduated from University in the summer of 2016, I accepted a job in the school where I had completed my university placement. In my first year I taught a lovely year 5 class and having worked well with them, I followed them up into year 6. Whilst working as a class teacher, I accepted further responsibilities, including physical education lead. Over the first two years of my career, I have developed a lot and I cannot wait to continue this progress.
Working internationally has always been a dream of mine and I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given to work at NAISAK. Having researched the school, the country and the plans for the future, there was no doubt that NAISAK was the school for me. I chose NAISAK because, like me, it is extremely ambitious and has very high standards.
I am an active, outgoing and friendly individual. I enjoy both watching and taking part in a range of sports (football, tennis, running and badminton) and I hope to continue this in Qatar. Over the past few years, I have used my sporting interests to volunteer as a coach for many children’s teams. Outside of sports, I love to explore and travel and I cannot wait to see the sights in and around the area next year.
My family have both supported and encouraged me with my decision to move abroad. Their support and commitment to both my personal and professional development has made me certain that a move to Qatar is the correct decision for me.
Looking to the future, I hope to further develop my skills as a class teacher, progress with further responsibilities and eventually lead a school. I believe the skills that I already have and the skills that I will develop at NAISAK will lead me to be a very successful educator.
Using my creativity I teach innovative and imaginative lessons that enhance and enrich children’s learning. I am keen to encourage effective learning and good discipline by using my organisational skills to provide an interesting classroom environment that both motivates and supports. My interpersonal skills enable me to communicate effectively on all levels and I am adept at building positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents. I share in the beliefs of NAISAK that parental involvement is extremely important and works towards developing effective relationships with the family group. The teaching skills that I have developed help me to promote confidence and self-esteem that allows children to develop into happy and successful individuals.
Working at NAISAK will be different to any other school I have worked in before as they provide an inspirational and ambitious opportunity for every child. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work at NAISAK, a prestigious, well-renowned school. I look forward to helping the children in my care to develop not only as incredible learners, but as incredible people as well. Communication with parents is key in any school so I fully intend on keeping parents up to date with any information that concerns their child and I look forward to getting to know them all.
