Ayeesha Shah

Year 5 Teacher

I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA honours in Criminology and Sociology. After graduating I moved to Qatar with my family and became a Learning Assistant here at NAISAK. After a year of working with children in the school I found that teaching was a very rewarding and interesting career option for me. This led me to complete my PGCE the following year, using my experiences and observations as an LA to help me understand the role of teaching.

I am happy to be joining the Year 5 team this year as a class teacher, because I have seen the support that the school gives their staff and students. This will be my third year at NAISAK, and I appreciate the tight-knit community that the school has formed. This community is what drew me to continue my teaching years at the school.

I first came to Qatar in 2006 when Qatar hosted the Asian Games and lived here for 5 years with my family. I went through the education system and then moved back to England. Having been educated in two different countries, it made me understand how important education is all over the world. This also influenced me to become a teacher as I understand the importance teaching has in children’s lives.

In my free time, I enjoy being creative, baking and trying new things. I also love watching football and sometimes kick the ball around myself!
