I completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of New England in Armidale, Australia. My majors were English and Children’s Film and Literature. From there I went straight into the Corporate sector where I spent many years in Sales and Marketing. I worked for and with some of the world’s most well-known companies such as AT&T, BT, Microsoft, Sony, and Samsung. This was my introduction to the excitement and joy of working overseas. In 2017 I had the unexpected opportunity to be a Teacher Librarian in a British School in El Salvador, Central America. It was then that I fell in love with teaching and decided to complete my PGCE with the University of Sunderland.
Teaching has provided the wonderful blessing of living in different countries around the world. I have lived in the stunning country of El Salvador. This allowed me to explore the fascinating culture, architecture and art of the Maya throughout Mexico, Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. I have travelled to many countries and love to explore their different art, music and food. Living in Qatar has been wonderful as the Middle East has always been one of my favourite places in the world.
I love Islamic art. Some of my favourite things to do are scuba diving, kayaking, travelling, visiting art museums and exploring local markets.
I am a strong advocate for reading aloud to children on a daily basis. I am a firm believer that every child has the right to read and the opportunity to read for the sheer enjoyment of it. The only thing that is probably more important, is to teach our children kindness.
