I completed my undergraduate study at the University of Wales, Newport and hold a BA Hons in History and Archaeology and a PGCSE from the University of the West of England, Bristol. I have been teaching for 12 years and during this time have worked in schools in Wales, England, Qatar and China. I have been a senior leader for four years overseeing many school improvement projects, helping to raise attainment, re-shape and enhance pastoral care and undertake curriculum development across Key Stage 3 and 4.
Having previously taught in Al Khor and knowing a little about the journey the school has already undertaken, it was an easy decision to make. I want to be part of something that really impacts upon the lives of the young people of Al Khor and part of the continuing growth and ambition of the school.
I enjoy travelling with my family and we have loved making the most of our time living in Asia, visiting exotic locations and experiencing new cultures. However, we are really looking forward to coming back to Qatar, as it was our first family home. I love cooking and Middle Eastern cuisine is very much a favourite of ours, so we are looing forward to heading to Souq Waqif to buy great ingredients and spices. One thing that I am very keen to accomplish over the next few years is to learn to speak Arabic, and I am determined to succeed, as my previous attempt was not very successful.
I also enjoy reading, playing guitar and still try to play sport occasionally, but most of all I enjoy spending my spare time with my daughter, Seren and wife Shannon and am happiest when I am with them.
NAISAK will be different to the other schools I have worked at because it is still a relatively young school in comparison to my other schools. For this reason, there is a unique opportunity to tailor the educational experience to our students, offering them the best possible, leading to great outcomes and endless possibilities for their futures. I am really looking forward to working alongside an incredibly dedicated team of staff and students.
