Duncan Ware

Science Teacher

Teaching in international schools addresses several of my high priority career goals most notably working with aspirational students and their families to facilitate the highest outcomes for the decision makers of the future. Nord Anglia as an organisation and NAISAK in particular, share this focus. Having taught in some of the most prestigious schools in Australia, I am in the fortunate position of being able to recognise these traits. After graduation I worked in the University’s Chemistry Department as a Researcher for several years before taking up a teaching position in a Boarding School teaching Physics and Science. I have taught Chemistry, Physics, Science and Mathematics. I have managed several Science Departments and led several schools as Head of Senior School. I am looking forward to teaching in NAISAK and learning all that makes it a unique school of high quality in Qatar.

I was born into a military family in Singapore in Malaya as it was at the time. I grew up in the United Kingdom and eventually moved with my family to Australia and to a regional centre in the state of New South Wales. It was here that I met my wife of 26 years. We have lived in Sydney, Brisbane, and most recently in a small town in Tasmania on our 100 year-old apple orchard with our daughter Alexandra. I enjoy a variety of activities including visiting museums, art galleries, other countries, scuba diving, DIY projects and all things teaching. I have a great interest in travel and experiencing other cultures and have visited over 21 countries of the 193 in the world today. Having visited several countries in the Middle East in the past and found them to be intriguing and wonderful places, I am really looking forward to exploring them further. Understanding and experiencing Islamic culture and art is a particular focus for my wife and me and we are looking forward to it.

NAISAK will be different from other schools I have worked at for number of reasons; its geographic location, the Islamic culture, the true international nature of both the school community and the country of Qatar itself and the diverse range of teachers and students to be found in the school. I am looking forward to making a difference and to contributing to this obviously vibrant and growing community of aspirational professionals and families.
