Jamil Rawat

Secondary Science Teacher

My name is Jamil Rawat and I am looking forward to joining the Secondary School Science team this year. During my younger years, I helped young people in the capacity of a youth worker and sports coach. This led me into teaching as I wanted to combine my passions for helping young people and science. I completed my Undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of York and my PGCE at Edgehill University. I have been teaching at a school in the North West of England for 3 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working at this school as it is very family orientated. I feel this school has given me the valuable skills and knowledge needed to move onto the next step of my career at NAISAK.

I decided to join NAISAK as I want to explore different cultures and countries. With Qatar having good links to other countries, I can fulfil a life-long ambition to travel and see different parts of the world. International teaching also appeals to me because I want to experience different views of the world to help me grow as a person.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing various sports, particularly football. I also enjoy restoring my classic car. My wife and I are huge cat lovers and we currently have a beautiful tabby named Eilah. I am caring, thoughtful and a great listener.

I am looking forward to working at an international school full of diversity and creativity. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead in terms of learning a new language and culture whilst also improving myself as a person. NAISAK will be different to other schools I have worked in because of the many different people from many different backgrounds. They help to make the school unique and I can’t wait to be a part of it!
