I originally trained as secondary school PE teacher and worked in this role for 2 years before transitioning to the primary setting and becoming a Primary PE specialist. I enjoyed both roles and gained a wealth of experiences working with a wide range of age groups. I believe that Physical Education is vital to the development of a child and that is the main reason I moved to my current primary role so that I could educate children from a young age and hopefully start to develop lifelong habits that will help them to lead healthy and active lives. I am very proud that I have managed to raise participation levels amongst children and create a thirst for PE. Since starting my current role, I have also helped to increase attainment levels and have seen competition success against other schools in a variety of sports.
I have always loved to play sport since childhood. I love to be active and like to challenge myself where possible. That is one of the reasons I like try out many different sports. My favourite sport is Skiing, where I have competed at Alpine race competitions and also become a qualified Skiing instructor. I enjoy being outdoors, especially being in the mountains with the fresh air and amazing views.
My other passion in life is travelling. I get excited by the prospect of visiting new places that I have never been to and ticking them off of my scratch map. My aim is to visit as many different countries as can. My favourite country so far has to be Canada, where I spent 3 weeks driving through the mountains and seeing some spectacular sights along the way.
NAISAK will be different to all others I have worked at because as an all through school it gives the opportunity to teach pupils of all ages, which will give my daily routine such variety and challenge. In one day I could go from teaching a year 1 child a basic skill of how to balance to helping a year 11 student prepare for an exam.
I am looking forward to working at NAISAK as this will be my first international school. I am looking forward to teaching and learning about children from different cultures and backgrounds and sharing my own experiences with them. This will be an amazing opportunity to work with other professionals from around the world and help me widen my own experiences and develop as a person and as a teacher.
