Music Teacher

I’ve been teaching music and performing arts for the past 10 years, since graduating with a Bachelor of Music and PGCE from the University of Pretoria. I also hold a diploma in vocal performance from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (UK). At the start of my career I worked part-time teaching music theory, voice & clarinet, before taking up a full-time position.

Students learn best when they are having fun and therefore my philosophy in teaching is to design active and practical lessons. As a singer, notable performances for the National Theatre include productions of The Merry Widow, Carmen & The Magic Flute. This has given me valuable knowledge and performance skills to the benefit of my teaching and students.

I’ve been privileged to travel throughout Europe and Asia as a member of the World Youth Choir, making music together with 80 singers from more than 30 countries. This opportunity has been inspiring and pivotal in directing my career towards international education.

In my spare time, I like to read and socialise with friends. I enjoy travelling and exploring new countries and cultures. I am a person who is patient, kind, humorous and a good listener. When possible, I spend time with my family cooking together or going to the cinema.

NAISAK will be different to other schools I have worked in due to the diversity of the students and staff. This diversity brings a wealth of experiences and knowledge for all to develop and learn from one another. I am excited to get involved with the Performing Arts in collaboration with Julliard, which offers students opportunities to develop their skills and learn from world class teachers.  I am excited to be a part of the staff at NAISAK and to help students develop, grow and be ambitious in everything they set their minds to.
