My name is Lucy Diraviam and I am looking forward to joining NAiSAK. With my dad and 6 out of his 7 daughters all being teachers, I literally grew up using a chalk more than anything else at home. Maybe this is the reason why I am so passionate about teaching.
I have a total of 23 years of teaching experience, most of which has been of high school Science and Computer Science teaching. My pastoral contributions to schools that I have worked in have been in roles as Student Counsellor, Head of House, House Tutor with a core competency area of ‘Community Service and Student Leadership’. I am also a certified International Award-Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader and was actively involved in walking expeditions for the Silver award program during my time at Al Khor International School.
I have felt very welcomed wherever I have worked and I am looking forward to taking on the challenge of a new role this year, working with students from across all stages of the school at NAISAK and being a part of its wonderful Global Campus.
I am a M.Sc. (Bioinformatics), B.Ed., MCA, with a background of Loreto Convent education from Calcutta, India. My college education has been from Scottish Church College and St .Xavier’s College, Calcutta.
My teaching career in various well known schools in India started with the teaching of General science, Mathematics and English at first the primary level and then moving on to teaching of Science, Computer Science and mathematics for the middle year students and finally teaching Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science to senior school students
I moved to Qatar with my family and joined Al Khor International School, at first in the junior section as a Science, Maths and Computer Science teacher and later moved on as a Biology and General Science teacher in the senior school.
My students find me friendly and someone they can easily approach with any of their problems. Being actively involved with them in various curricular and co-curricular activities, inter-house and inter-school events, parents night programs, etc has always helped me know my students better. I believe I am able to guide my students into becoming more confident all-rounders with a sound personality.
