Director of Sport

I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2008 with an honours degree in Sport Development before also completing my PGCE at Liverpool John Moores University in 2010. Prior to teaching, I worked in the field of sports management for a number of sporting organisations, most notably for the Tongan National Rugby League. I am moving to NAISAK from the British International School of Houston, where I am currently the Head of Physical Education. Prior to this I worked at a secondary school in North Yorkshire as a Teacher of PE & Assistant Director of Learning. I am excited to join NAISAK to continue to develop the work that has been started on developing the concept based curriculum and the student centered pedagogical practices I am a big believer in Physical Education providing students with opportunities to develop their skills and understanding that then allows them to continue to participate in sport, physical activity and exercise. This is particularly true in International Education where we can never predict where our students will live at various stages in their lives. With each country having its own sporting culture, providing students with the conceptual understandings that underpin all sports and physical activities, I believe will help them in this endeavour.

have also recently completed my MA in International Education through King’s College London, where my dissertation focussed on The Conceptions of Teaching and Learning in an International School Context. I am an avid Rugby League supporter, with my team being Hull Kingston Rovers.

One of the key drivers that attracted me to joining the NAISAK team was the clear drive and vision that school has and how this vision aligns within my own beliefs regarding International Education. One of the key differences that NAISAK offers is the diverse nature of the school community. I am looking forward to working at a school that offers a different cultural experience, in comparison to my time in the U.K. and the U.S.
