JOB DESCRIPTION
The role of technician in the Art Department involves assisting teaching staff at St Andrews International School deliver a high quality, practical curriculum in which students can achieve high standards working with a wide variety of materials, tools and processes. The technician’s role is vital in supporting teachers prepare lessons that are safe, well-resourced and successful.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily Tasks
Assisting with preparation of materials required by subject teachers before lessons
Assisting with organisation of tools and equipment for practical work
Supporting teaching staff in practical lessons
Regular Tasks (fortnightly-monthly)
Regular maintenance of studio equipment
Maintaining safe, well organised practical areas
Special Events
School production – creative assistance with set and props
IB Visual Arts exhibition – preparation, display and photographing of work
GCSE Exhibition – preparation, display and photographing of work
EXPO (faculty exhibition) – preparation, display and photographing of work
The technician will also be required to support the delivery of clay, printing and textiles lessons.

Practical/hands on experience in creative areas
Ability to work as part of a team and individually
Able to take initiative and work on a wide variety of tasks
Positive, motivated approach
Willing to accept new challenges and learn new skills
Qualifications and skills
• Art based training would be beneficial but not essential
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with staff and management at all levels
• Basic computer skills in Word, Excel
