Key Stage 2: Fiercely protecting a sustainable environment

The first ever Meat Free Monday took place at St Andrews International School Bangkok...Find out more about the Won Project being organised by Ms Helen and the Eco Beasts...KS2 Class Swap takes place on Tuesday.

Today was our first ever Meat Free Monday at STA and it was a huge success. The children were all treated to a delicious vegetarian menu which included pasta and tomato sauce, veggie burgers, veggie samosas, pad thai, stir fried mix veg and more. There was also the normal salad and fruit bar. We will be having our second meat free menu next Monday.

The Won Project

There is such enthusiasm around the St Andrews International School Bangkok Community at the moment regarding Sustainability and Recycling projects, that we are constantly being asked what more we can do as a school.

Ms Helen describes another partnership coming on line now that will be developed during the next academic year:

In our continued effort to make our school more sustainable, we are proud to announce that we have partnered with a local foundation called ‘Won Project’ in order to extend our plastic recycling capabilities.  Won are now accepting all the ‘stretchy’ plastic that normally cannot be recycled in Thailand. We have a bin by the car park entrance that has an information board explaining which kinds of plastics are accepted. As much as possible plastics should be clean and dry. The Won Project will then come and pick the bins up every few weeks. If you have a local business and would like to run a similar scheme using the bins please get in touch and we can give you the contact details.

Thank you for your support.
