Car parking and traffic
The first week has been incredibly busy at both campuses. Most of our parking issues have been at the Primary School as the limited parking at the front of school quickly becomes full, especially in the afternoon. We are now asking parents to make use of the additional parking at MaxValue and Suk 71 to alleviate some of this pressure and reduce traffic. The new walkway into the Primary School very much supports parents parking at Suk 71, giving them a safe pathway into campus.
The free shuttle bus services continue their regular routes from the Gateway, the High School and MaxValue Shopping mall to the Primary School. We will continue to monitor this helpful service to our school community and add more buses as demand grows.
High School parents and students are already aware there is only really a drop off area at High School which allows students to quickly and safely leave their transport to school before it leaves our site. Should parents want to wish to park and come into school they can park at the Gateway Shopping Mall for free for up to three hours with a parking voucher that can be obtained from the Security Desk and the Reception Desk in the School Office. The closeness of our High School to the BTS Skytrain really gives our older students a convenient and safe way to commute to and from school everyday.
Over the long vacation, our school has had discussions with our local police to control parking by members of our community in the no parking zone on Soi 20 and its sub-sois. Parking here is a strong contributor to traffic congestion and causes problems for the residents of the local community around our Primary School. The police will strictly enforce and prohibit parking in Soi 20. If the flow of traffic in this area is not markedly improved, we may be asked to close this access point, a result that would inconvenience a great many parents and students in our community. I humbly ask all parents to please refrain from parking in Soi 20 at any time, and instead, rely on the other areas that the school has made available to use.
Recycling
This year our school will continue to be a very active recycling centre. Building on the work that was done last year inside and outside of the curriculum, while also working in collaboration with parents and our PTG, we continue to recycle as much of the school’s waste as possible. We shall also be having special days where our school community will be able to bring in recyclable waste from home to further promote and ingrain recycling habits to make our school community more sustainable.
I hope everyone has had a very enjoyable start to the new school year and I look forward to seeing you in the next few weeks at the ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoons.
